Precision Finish Grinding Technician Apprentice

Office: Tegra Medical - Franklin
Location: MA

Tegra Medical is seeking a Precision Finish Grinding Technician Apprentice join our Franklin, MA facility. The Grinding Apprentice will be fully engaged in an intense State Approved training curriculum designed to develop the next Tegra Medical Precision Finish Grinding Technicians. Training will consist of 6,000 hours of hands-on and online /classroom training. Due to the significant investment by Tegra and the selected individual, a letter of understanding will be drawn up and signed by both parties.

Role and Responsibilities
• Setup / operate machines, achieving specifications including quality and throughput.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Perform ERP system transactions.
• Monitor process and specifications, stop when an issue is identified. If changes are required, shut down process and see Setup Person or Department Lead.
• Work from standard operating procedures, work instructions and prescribed operation sequences to achieve parts per print and quality specifications.
• Perform own part inspection during grinding process to measure work piece to check to match specs, using measuring instruments such as microscope, optical comparator, micrometer, caliper, dial indicators and gauges.
• Simultaneous to grinding operation, perform a variety of secondary operations as required ex: clean and deburr parts, cleaning work areas and assisting others within department.
• Machine materials other than metal, such as composites, plastic, and rubber.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
• H.S. Diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of a vocational school in manufacturing/machining or engineering discipline is a plus.
• Ability to work with small diameter parts requiring tight tolerances and high-quality finishes.
• Ability to read blueprints/drawings and follow work instructions.
• Experience in a small device manufacturing environment as a CNC Machining Operator is preferred.

Hours of Work: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM must be flexible based on training availability.

As stated above due to the significant investment by Tegra Medical and the selected individual, a letter of understanding will be drawn up and signed by both parties.

A two-year employment commitment to Tegra Medical after program completion is expected.
